How To Use Essential Oils

When people think about essential oils, most think about them as something to make the room smell good. While that is one benefit from using the oils aromatically, there are so many more uses and benefits. Let’s take a look at the three categories of usage.

Essential oils are first and foremost aromatic substances. Their primary mode of action is aromatic. The next time you drive by a field of fresh peppermint or hike through a pine forest, breathe deeply—you’re experiencing the soul-soothing power of essential oils. But essential oils are more than nice scents; these powerful plant extracts are your path to the lifelong wellness we are committed to helping you discover.

You can use them Aromatically by:

  1. Add 4-6 drops of essential oil in an ultrasonic diffuser.
  2. Drop 2-3 drops of essential oil on a cotton ball and place in your home or car air vents.
  3. Inhale directly from the bottle

When a plant is injured, it releases its essential oil to the wounded area. Therefore, the second mode of action is topical application of the essential oil.

You can use them Topically by:

  1. Add 1-2 drops of essential oil to 1-2 drops of a carrier oil(grape seed, almond, coconut oil, etc) and apply directly to the desired area.
  2. Apply 1-2 drops of essential oils to the corresponding acupressure or Vitaflex points.
  3. For emotional wellbeing, essential oils can be applied to the back of the neck, behind the ears, wrists and over the heart.

PLEASE consult the labels, before using any essential oils Internally. Young Living has recently come out with the Vitality Line. All the essential oils in the Vitality line have a white label and are safe for Internal usage.

  1. Add 1-2 drops of Vitality essential oil to a large glass of ice water(glass or stainless steel containers only!)
  2. Add 2-6 drops of Vitality essential oil to a size 00 capsule and ingest.
  3. Cook with 1-3 drops of Vitality essential oil. They really enhance your favorite dishes!

These are just a few ways for each category of use. Please follow the label usage instructions. Some oils need diluting and the labels will tell you the dilution ratios.
